Uniquely Nelson is an incorporated society set up with a Board and Manager to promote the Nelson Central Business District (CBD) to current and potential customers.

Uniquely Nelson works alongside Nelson city businesses and key stakeholders to create and maintain a vibrant and attractive retail, hospitality and business environment that builds on Nelson’s history, arts, and natural beauty. In addition to managing four key annual promotions in the city centre. Uniquely Nelson acts as an important communication forum between Nelson City Council, key stakeholders and over 630 businesses in Nelson City.

Uniquely Nelson Staff

Cathy Madigan is the Manager at Uniquely Nelson.  Cathy brings many years retail marketing experience from living in Melbourne for the past 25 years.  Cathy has returned to Nelson, her hometown, to be closer to family and to enjoy the fantastic Nelson lifestyle!

Reni Gargiulo is Uniquely Nelson's Marketing Coordinator.  Reni has lived in Nelson for many years and has been involved in numerous projects such as Whakatu Marae, the Farmers and Saturday Markets and various retail promotions involving fashion and accessories retail businesses.

OBJECTIVES 2012

1. Promote the CBD to potential and current customers through:

* added value initiatives
* physical enhancement of the CBD
* excellent service delivery
* strategic marketing campaigns


2. Act as the communication conduit between Nelson city businesses, council and other stake holders on issues impacting business in the CBD

3. Refer Nelson city businesses to appropriate networking, support and advice agencies

4. Monitor customer activity in the Nelson CBD

5. Gain continued commitment and participation from businesses towards a positive profile of the CBD

6. Promote and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and climate change initiatives

7. Demonstrate high standards of governance and operational best practice.
