Tia Andrews of Stoke is the happy recipient of a Christmas Gift Hamper containing more than $2,000 of prizes, after being named the 2011 Christmas Star.
Tia was nominated by her sister, Kelly Paki Paki, who says Tia is just an all-round awesome woman!
Kelly’s nomination said: “Tia is an amazing mum, friend, volunteer and all-round awesome woman. She is mum to five children plus she takes care of another child before and after school every day. She is greatly involved in fundraising for Nayland Primary and Nayland Kindergarten, she coaches kids’ sports teams, plus plays herself, she volunteers for everything and anything that needs a parent to help from class trips to sports days and road patrol duties. She voluntarily runs a community music group for pre-schoolers every Tuesday and on top of all that, she’s also a marriage celebrant!”.
Kelly also thanked Tia for her support as a sister and said that Tia had been there for her recently when they had a family emergency.
The Mayor, Mr Aldo Miccio, was involved in the juding of the nominations and said it was very hard to choose just one recipient. “There are so many people out there doing wonderful things for their community, and we thank them all for their contributions! I wish we could give a Christmas hamper to every one of them, but there could only be one Christmas Star and this year it is Tia Andrews,” said the Mayor.
The Christmas Star prizes were kindly donated by Nelson City retailers and businesses and included everything from dining out vouchers, pampering and hair-styling, jewellery, books, homewares, gourmet foods, flowers, fashion & footwear, toys and health & wellbeing.
Who’s Your Christmas Star was a promotion run by Uniquely Nelson with the support of media partners The Nelson Mail and MORE-FM. More than 60 nominations were received and every one of them is a Christmas Star to the people they help every day!
